Your potty training supply list

This is a list of recommended materials that I use to potty train. Though not all are required, these are nice-to-haves.

Some activities

  • Ideally, these would be fun activities for you and your toddler to engage together in, but make sure they’re not so distracting that you won’t catch the beginnings of a pee stream.

  • Some things I would suggest would be puzzles, foam stickers, beading on pipe cleaners, or drawing.

Books

  • Here’s a blog post with my faves!

    Snacks and Water

  • Snacks can include things with a high fluid content like melon, or ice pops. Getting in some healthy fats ie: avocado, coconut milk, olive oil is a good way to ensure some nice poops.

  • A tad more water than normal, but don’t go crazy. Keep in mind that the average toddler only needs about 1L of water a day.

Little Potty

  • I like these. They are simple, easy to clean, and I’ve never had one tip over.

  • This version has a taller back, this is better for kids who will need something to hold onto while they lower themselves down. High Backed potty

Potty Insert

  • So you can give them the option “ Would you like to use the big potty or the little potty?”

  • I like This one. It attaches to your actual toilet and attaches itself to the inside of your toilet lid. Great if you don’t love the idea or removing a potty insert any time an adult needs to use the bathroom.

  • If that’s too hardcore, this one is fine: Jool Potty Seat

  • I disliike the ones that are a potty insert with the steps pre-attached. I’ve never seen it fit against a toilet securely and I find them to be quite wobbly.

Step stool with railing

  • The railing creates the opportunity for potty independence and physical security.

Other Bathroom Supplies

Then, nap time supplies

Chux pads

  • for on top of the sheets

Brolly sheets

  • for under your sheets to protect the mattress.

Travel potty

Change of clothes

  • Pee goes all down the leg. So don’t forget fresh shoes and socks too.

  • Pro Tip: pack them in a plastic ziplock/ reusable wet/dry pouch so you have a place for the wet clothes.

Underwear

  • Dealer’s choice. I recommend to have at least 12 pairs.

And some cleanup:

Paper towels

Multipurpose cleaner

Alright guys, to the potty!
