Step Stools for potty training

Stools are the thing that’s also overlooked by clients on my supply lists, and as soon as we begin we are all reminded just how helpful a good stool is.

Nothing breaks my heart more than a child wanting to do it all themselves, and then can’t because the environment doesn’t permit. A good stool not only inspires independent big potty use and hand washing, but also fosters feelings of self efficacy— essential for esteem and confidence building. Maybe I’m reading too much into a step— potty training products in general are really easy to become swept up in, however this is also a tool a family can utilize for years.

The height and handle placement of this stool would make this my pick.

The handle are in just the right spot for toddlers to grab while they are stepping up to the potty, sitting on the potty, and to grab as they come down from the potty.

The StrongTek Wooden two step is also great due to it’s handles on the top, and the added grip on the steps.

Ultimately, stools are stools. This one will work. it can easily be stored when not in use. My only reservation are the lack of handles, meaning less stability. If you are potty training an older child or one who demonstrates physical prowess, this would not be an issue- you can teach them to hold onto the sides of the toilet bowl when they climb up.
